The lyrics you are thinking of are used in Reginald Hill's novel "On Beulah Height" and also in the television adaptation of the book, part of the Dalziel and Pascoe detective series. The lyrics in Yorkshire English are given in full in the novel - approx. £5.99
: : I am looking for English lyrics (NOT just translations!) to Mahler's Kindertotenlieder (based on poems by Friedrich Rückert). Specifically, I am interested in the fourth of these songs, "Oft denk' ich, sie sind nur ausgegangen". I have heard this sung in English; the text included "...on Beulah Height!" in lieu of "...auf jenen Höh'n!". I would dearly love to have these lyrics. Can anyone help?
