I first listened to the 2nd or 3rd Symphonies. I don't recall which one was first. both within a few days of each other in 1985. I have been hooked on Mahler ever since. Then came the 6th, then the 9th, then the 4th , then the 5th, then the 8th, then Das Lied von der Erda. Somewhere in all of that were the songs. My god! the songs.
