Indeed the motet is in two parts: "Sicut cervus, prima pars;"
and "Sitivit anima mea," secunda pars. In some editions the prima pars is all that is listed; others include both. Would love to do both- but this year the prima pars is
enough for the young singers. Next year, "secunda pars!"
: There is a seldom used second part to the "Sicut Cervus" which is named "Sitivit
Anima". The music title shows that name, and adds, "Secunda Par De Sicut Cervus". The two compositions are seldom heard together, though they should be. When you hear the "Sitivit", you will instantly hear the relationship between the two compositions.
: His compositions for the Roman Catholic liturgy are numerous, and he spent most of his life in Rome at St. John Lateran, St. Peter's Basilica, and Santa Maria Maggiore.
