: I must start with a confession. I have only heard one of Gabrielli's compositions: Motet, O Magnus Mysterium. Even so, I was greatly impressed and want to know more. I have started to conduct a search for the score of this piece for two reasons. Firstly, I liked the piece very much and I am natuaraly curious as to how the harmony is structured. Secondly, I had an idea that the piece could be re-arranged for more conventional instrumentation. It was written for organ continuo and polychoral SATB choirs and trumpets. I would relish the idea of arranging this for modern ensemble such as a scaled-down wind-band. Although I am sceptical about getting any help (there seem to be many unanswered questions on these pages) but I shall persevere. I would be delighted to engage in further conversation on this subject.

Bernard Publishes an extensive selection of Gabrielli's opus.
But, what you really must hear, is this music played
on period instruments. the modern br style just does not start to
demonstrate the majesty of this idiom.
I am a sackbut player, and play regularly with
other instruments (cornets, curtals, shawms and voice)
