: I believe the piece is Variations on"La ci Darem la Mano" op. 2. The theme is from Mozart's opera Don Giovanni. It's an early work, but one which brought Chopin to the attention of Schumann, among others.
: : Yesterday on the classical station here in San Francisco, I heard something. It was quite amazing.
: : I believe he said Eric Olsen on piano .. that was Chopin from Chi To Giovanni.
: : I know something is wrong here because I cannot find this piece listed anywhere on Amazon or elsewhere. The piece sounds almost like a fugue -- one repeating refrain -- and maybe uses two or four pianos?
: : Help?

I too, heard this in San Diego (the station is not listed on the internet) and looked EVERYWHERE else until I tried Google. Amazon has the one I am looking for (hidden) because I remembered it was with the London Symphony. Try again, the ASIN is B00000416B, look down at #2 description of "What's on this CD"..."Variations...". The album is Frederick Chopin Complete works for Piano and Orchestra on Polygram Records #438338. Isn't the internet GREAT????
