Hi Mickael
It´s a little bit strang for me, a dane, to speak english to you. It would be much easier for me to read swedish, but OK the other participants wouldn´t be all too happy about us speakin danish an sweedish :-)
You are right, that it isn´t only a matter of pace. I haven´t heard Ignaz Friedmann in "au bord d´une source", but in the revolution etude by Chopin Horowitz is very fast, Cortot is faster, Paderewski is stille faster and Friedmann is the fastest I´ve ever heard. I thing they liked to show their technique in that century. The very understanding of the artist as someone almost divine wouldn´t fit that the pianists playd cautiously and appolinic. May be i´m not right. One can never know for sure.
Regards (hälsningar, hilsener)
Franz
