: Is Couperin's port to remain so forlorn and deserted?
: He was a great composer. His harpsichord music ranks with the best, as do his orchestral compositions.
Couperins melodic imagination, delicate harmonic sense, ever fresh melodic imagination have left an imprint on us which we will never forget. His music was witty, graceful and tuneful; the moods and rhythms, melodies, flowing allemandes and lively gigues, noble sarabandes to crisp gavottes have made him the best french composer of his time.
