: I'm very interested in finding some beautiful vocal(soprano solo) music to perform by Hungarian composers. I have found many pieces by Bartok and Kodaly, but I'm really searching for music which is more lyric and romantic in structure and sentiment rather than adapted from folk music. I'm also interested in new Hungarian compositions and lesser known composers. Any Hungarian musicians out there -indeed, just anyone who might be able to help me with any information would be greatly appreciated!
: thankyou.........

I'm not Hungarian, but I can suggest some composers. Liszt was Hungarian, and he wrote some eighty songs, and three or four of them are sung in Hungarian. Many hungarian poets from the 19th century were not fluent in Hungaran, so they wrote in German.

Mosonyi and Ferenc Erkel are two other Hungarian composers contemporary with Liszt. I don't know whether they wrote Lieder, but Erkel wrote operas, so you can probably find an aria somewhere.

Editio Musica Budapest is the publisher whre you should start looking./Mikael
