Hi all - just in case anyone is a fellow violin enthusiast here - I heard a recording once (a scratchy recording on tape - from an equally scratchy LP!) of the Brahms violin concerto with an incredible improvised cadenza. The violinist was Ovid Musen (sp?), I think in the 30's but I'm not sure. Most people forget that composers gave artists license to improvise to show thier prowess in the cadenza but most fall to some "standard" which was established by one of the "greats"... If anyone has heard of this recording I'd like to hear from them. Thanks!
