I don't know if one Steve Mole frequents this board. But I'd like to thank him for introducing me to the symphonies of Albric Magnard. I really like them, especially the 4th.
I met Steve Mole at the CNN Interactive Community Board on Symphonies.
Aside from sketching out my own symphony at the moment, I'm always looking out for little known great symphonies. I'm reasonably familiar with all the old tried and true war horses.
Steve suggested I hear Magnard's fourth. I loved it.
I'm about to explore the symphonies of Erich Korngold.
If anyone would like to recommend lesser known favorite symphonies please let me know.
I've been working my way through Glazanov, Tobin, Alfven.
Saturday I went through Gorecke's Third and Gleire's(spelling?) First.
Oh well. To each his or her own, Right ?
Late Romantic is my preference at the moment.
