This is a basic question on notation.
Is there the sign indicates "just medium intensity"?
It is said that "mf" means "medium loud", but "mp" means "medium ." I think mf means a little loud and mp means a little . For, if mf means just medium intensity, mp is a surplus and odd.
Or mf means both a little loud and just medium intensity? If so, I wonder contemporary composers still use this ambiguous sign and don't use the sign between mf and mp.
