My friend, I sympathize. This is one of a handful of recordings I PRAYED would someday find its way onto compact disc. Well, my prayers were answered! You are right about the label and catalogue number (The Beecham Collection: BEECHAM 4). It was originally issued by CBS, apparently (on LP), but has been manufactured on CD by EMI, for Sir Thomas Beecham Enterprises Ltd. The disc was issued in 1991. I have never seen it in the United States, but after a lot of hair-pulling was able to find somebody at Tower Records who knew what he was doing, and we were able to special order it, as an import. It cost me an arm and a leg (over $20.00 -- we Americans are so spoiled)! But it was worth it. There are other complete recordings, but don't settle! The one on Koch is all in German, and it just isn't as good. Also, this version features a few brief additions by Sir Thomas, "in the style of" Schumann. It's so great to have it on disc. A local classical station used to have the LP, which they sometimes played on overnights, but the last time I requested it, I was told it was too worn for airplay. Here's an address (as it appears in the liner notes). Maybe it will help you:

Sir Thomas Beecham Enterprises Ltd., is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Sir Thomas Beecham Trust Ltd. Registered Charity No. 295415
Denton House, Denton, HARLESTON, Norfolk, IP20 0AA

The performers:

Beecham/Royal Philharmonic Orch./BBC Chorus

with Laidman Browne, Jill Balcon, Raf de al Torre, David Enders, Gertrude Holt, Claire Duchesneau, Niven Miller, Glyndwr Davies, Ian Billington

Recorded 1954 (Overture recorded 1956)

Good luck! Let us know if you find it!
