The art of mixing metaphors by Alan Dundes is the only book I know of- I did a thesis project on this subject, and this was the best book I found.

: I am searching for a book or guide which defines and describes the various proverbs captured in Breughel's Dutch Proverbs painting (I understand there are supposed to be about one hundred but I can't figure them out!). Any suggestions??
