I have heard Academicians and read Historians who say so. Why don’t' you check with someone in that department at your local colleges or universities.
I think Mather was a victim of a smear campaign much as most deeply religious persons were and still are. The prophets were stoned, etc., and Christ was crucified. Now they are venerated and He is worshipped, as He should be. I see the truth of what Mather wrote. Why can't you?
