History was not too kind to Cotton Mather due to his alledged connection to the Salem Witch trials. Lately he has been exonerated. He was misunderstood.
He was from a line of Mathers who were Presidents in the early days at Harvard. I understand that Cotton founded Yale.
My attention was drawn to him as explained in the post below, "Theopolis Americana" which was quoted by Banefield in the book THE UNHEAVENLY CITY c. 1973.
