"Hamilton branded him an embryonic Caesar, and repeatedly stated that Burr was a treacherous opportunist who would aggrandize himself at the cost of the country (strong words). Guess what? He was right."

As was pointed out, Burr was tried for treason. But he was not found guilty. In fact there is an interesting lack of evidence that Burr ever intended to do what he was charged with.

Plus the label of "embryonic Caesar" and "treacherous opportunist who would aggrandize himself at the cost of the country" applies very nicely to Hamilton! For example that is what Abigail Adams felt about Hamilton.
