: Alexander Hamilton's example is one of the primary reasons I do what I do, and have always wanted to. When you delve past the high school history textbook's Cliff Notes version of Hamilton's stereotype, you find Hamilton was more prescient than any other Founding Father, and because of his lasting contributions AND his vision, he is still relevant today.
: Churchill said it best: "The further backward you can look, the farther forward you are likely to see."
I am in the midst of discovering the genius and foresight of Hamilton. I have just finished reading Brookhiser's bio of Hamilton, and I must say I was very impressed with the impartial but still gracious approach taken in this work. R. Brookhiser took a fair look at Hamilton and his foes.
I must admit, that since I have been making personal study of the founding years of this great country, the notion of serving the public has crossed my mind. For some years I have been interested in history and politics. I grew up in a family that made many a dinner conversation about current and past political events. I guess it now resonates a little stronger for me. I am too amazed at the apathy towards our political system and American history that people of my generation have. (26 years old) I feel that the past as Churchill suggests in integral to the sucess of the future. Hamilton et al. have and will continue to inspire me in whatever endeavors lay ahead. For now I am a (occupation) food scientist.
