: Hellllllp, um not that this is an essay or anything, no, um, its not. I was just casually wondering: : "How successfully has Shakespeare been in giving an emotional intensity to characters other than Hamlet?". : Anyway, that's all I was . . . casually wondering, reply if you want : (please)
: (no really, please reply)
I would say very successful. For instance, Ophelia's decline into madness and death -- that's pretty intense! Also, Claudius -- he wants to ask God for forgiveness but knows that he is not sorry enough to give up his crown (take a look at act 3, scene 3: his monologue that begins, "Oh my offense is rank..." Hope this helps a bit! And good luck on your "casual wonderment" :)
