Kathy: I think if you read Walter Kaufmann's "Nietzsche" Princton pub you will really enjoy. What translation do you use? Would love to add more but I'm pressed for time. Look forward to chatting sometime.

Z: I read Kaufmann's work on N when I first started reading Nietzsche. I have re-read sections of it on many occasions since. As to translations, while many will challenge Kaufmann's interpretations of N, few use anyone else's translations. Walter Kaufmann was rather pedantic and quite rude as an instructor (I have been told); however, he was extremely painstaking in his translations. Furthermore, I am repeatedly impressed by some of his Nietzsche analysis as I go back and read it now.

I hope my friend Sorenmad doesn't disown me after my saying all of this positive stuff about Kaufmann. Oh Well.

E-mail me sometime. I'd like to set up a session with several of the people I have met on the various N boards. Good folks for the most part, I think (of course an axe murderer or two may have snuck through).

cheers,

Z
